This is a wonderful Early 19th Century Staffordshire Black Transferware Sauce Tureen in the "Italian Buildings" pattern by Ralph Hall c. 1822-1841 . It measures approximately 7 1/2" long from handle to handle and approximately 6" high to the top of the crisply detailed flower finial. While the piece is unmarked t is no doubt that this is the Italian Buildings pattern by Ralph Hall. (Reference: Staffordshire Cup Plates and Early Victorian China by Petra Williams with Marguerite R. Weber Volume I page 301.) The condition is excellent with NO repairs and NO reglazing. The glaze is shiny and the black transferware is very crisp, showing wonderful detail. T are only some minor glaze rubs on the edges of the handles which do NOT go into the ceramic, very miniscule glaze rubs on the finial and 1 tight hairline on a handle connector (see photo 8).
