A doll's beautiful antique Christening cape which is a smaller version of the Christening capes being worn by Victorian infants of the period. Beautifully made of white cotton flannel, it is cotton lined and completely handstitched and assembled with a Peter Pan collar edged with a most exquisite scalloped edged 3.5 inches wide tambour lace frill. The shoulder cape is also edged withe same lace frill to create a most lovely and enchanting layered effect. Originally fastening at the neck with silk ribbons but these, with the passage of time, have disintegrated and I have replaced with appropiate pale pink silk ribbon which is tied into a bow - this can be removed and another colour substituted. Carefully washed and in an immaculate condition with no marks or stains and I can find no sign of wear or damage so the cape appears to be in almost perfect condition and a stunning and authentic garment for a special antique doll. Measurements : Neck circumference 6 inches. Centre back to lower edge 17.25 inches.
