ASHTON Pebble Shell 8524 SHS [165] 35 Full sized Ashton Pebble Shell diamond paneled Dublin The Pebble Shell finish is a new experience for me, and quite a surprise. I assume this name, and the patent number as well, refer to the quaint bowl and shank treatment. It appears to be a combination of rusticated and sandblasted textures. The shank as well as the bowl are delicately ribbed. It is flat-bottomed, so it sits. The pipe was smoked but carefully maintained and remains quite pristine, with a clean briar surface, a properly managed chamber, and a stem without toothmarks. This is a truly unusual and profoundly handsome work of craftsmanship.
