Edwardian Double-Sided Mourning Brooch on Swivel
Features Hair on One Side, Photograph on the Other Both Sides Under Crystal Beautifully made Edwardian mourning brooch set in brass or pinchbeck. It features a locket type arrangement set on a swivel. One side is a photograph of a man (Mr Darcy! Is that you?!) that looks like he stepped out of a Jane Austen novel. Presumably it is his hair that has been beautifully and elaborately worked into a series of braids under the glass on the other side, but given his very high forehead, one wonders w they found enough hair to work with. In generally good condition, this piece is in need of a cleaning as t are some tiny areas of corrosion near the braided area, and the decorative circles that mark the four points of the face have been slightly bent over the years. Really a very nice English piece all the same, and an excellent addition to any mourning jewelry collection.(Or wear it yourself and claim him for a long lost forefather.) Some Notes on Policy Except in the most unusual circumstances (i.e. having to crate an especially large or heavy item) I don't charge handling fees. I use new packing materials and plenty of it and employ eBay's postage calculator to determine shipping fees. If you choose not to insure an item, and it is lost or broken after mailing, sadly you will have to accept its loss as your own. I try to avoid using UPS unless it is specifically requested, or offers significantly better rates in that instance. I prefer payment by Paypal, though I will accept US postal money orders and cash. International buyers must use Paypal. Please feel free to email me with any questions!
