This is an original, not a recent made import from the far east, but made and carried during the days of Empire. The blade is marked J. Johnstone London and Dublin (acid etched) and is 1 inch wide by 32 inches long. Three small nicks in an otherwise very clean and rust free blade. The blade is acid etched with a cartouche like that on the hilt and floral designs. 98% fish skin grips with all wire intact. Some slight signs of wear, see photos. The hilt has a somewhat brassy tint to it, but could be dulled silver, or some other metal. A VR cartouche ( I think, but it could be another initial), again see photo. One kink in the scabbard, below the lower ring, with some pitting on one side. This weapon was field used, not a dress sword. Great patina. Please ask questions before you bid. USA sales only.
