You are bidding on an original English Pattern 1853 Cavalry Saber. This edged weapon was imported by both the north and the south during America's Civil War. This sword is 100% complete and original, including the iron scabbard with original suspension rings. The iron hilt is complete and in good condition. The hard leather grip is complete, but does show some honest wear, including some smoothed areas to the original checkered leather. The iron blade includes a wide fuller near the back of the blade. The ricasso is stamped vertically with a small English crown (/) B (/) 13 on the obverse side of the blade. The semi-bright finish shows minor, inactive pitting. The heavy iron scabbard is also complete with with some light, inactive pitting running the length of the scabbard. This English cavalry saber is overall in very nice condition and would make a wonderful addition to any edged weapons collection of the American Civil War. The seller apologizes for the darkness of the photos.
