English Redware Jug w/ Raised Spout & Speckled Glaze

An English Redware Jug with Speckled Glaze and a Raised Spout, dating from the early 19 th Century, I believe (perhaps a bit earlier). The raised spout on this piece makes it a most unusual form, I am told. The jug measures 6 ½" to the top of the spout and the handle to spout distance is about 5 ¾". T are some faintly incised lines around the neck of the piece and the glaze does not extend all the way to the bottom: approximately ½" at the bottom of the jug is unglazed, as is the bottom. The interior of the jug is glazed, with a flesh-tone glaze that can be seen dripping down from the top edges and around the top of the spout. The bottom is marked with an impressed '22'.
Condition is fine or better, especially for a utilitarian piece that could be 200+ years old. T are no cracks or lines, nor any glaze loss (exfoliation) on the jug. T is a chip on the inside of the spout (left side) that measures ¾" x ¼", and another very small and shallow spot (approximately ¼") on the top edge just to the right of the handle. Finally, t is also a ¼" chip on the foot rim. An interesting addition to your English Redware collection.
