On offer is a gloriously rococo miniature casket or coffer so elaborately decorated with deep bas relief cherubs amid medieval vines and floral patterns as to leave no room for the imagination. The term unrestrained comes to mind. It is decorated on all sides and lid in the same effusive elaborate fashion. The box appears to be of copper or bronze panels set into brass frames. But I'm no expert in this and making the best possible guess. The interior is cedar lined with one divider. I believe it was a very ostentatious trinket box produced in the 1950's for the English market. Suitable for an elegant lady's dressing table or a conversation piece on a mantel or coffee table. Particularly for anyone partial to Renaissance flair, cherubs or putti. It measures 6-1/8 inches in width by 2-1/2 inches in height and 3-7/8 inches in depth and is surprisingly heavy and solid.
