ENGLISH STERLING NAPKIN RINGS (PAIR) Martin Hall Co. Ltd 1905 You are bidding on a matched pair of English sterling napkin rings with engine turned design. They are both clearly and sharply marked with the makers mark RM EH for Martin Hall Co. Ltd., the crown denoting Sheffield ,the lion indiating sterling and the date letter n for 1905. The firm of Martin Hall began in 1866 and survived until 1933. It is unusual to find a pair in such exceptional condition. The engine turned design of flowers and scrolls surrounds a central cartouche that is not initialed. T is a very distinct beaded edge. T are some small wear marks on the central cartouche as it is the only part that is not engraved. What makes these unusual is the weight which is 5.5 ounces for the pair or over 2 1/2 ounces each. For those who are interested that is about $60.00 worth of silver at todays prices. They are 2 inches in diameter and 1 1/4 inches high. The extreme weight kept these from sustaining major damage. Get out the fine linens if you intend on using these. Dinner for two anyone?
