with English diamond registry mark for November 1854, and maker`s mark, in a four-lobed cartouche, probably E. & J. Barnard ca. 1855-1865. Aesthetic Movement style with extensive bright-cut engraving and punchwork decoration on the pear-shaped body and circular foot, having a highly detailed coiled snake handle, the open-mouthed reptile intently focused on a silver moth, resting on the hinged cover; the lid and interior with gold wash and the underside of the lid marked with the sterling standard, date mark 1863, and the maker`s mark, E.B. & J.B. in a four-lobed punch; 12.5` high x 4.5` diameter; 25 ozt.
