FINE ENGLISH GEORGE III STERLING SILVER COVERED BOX; CYLINDER FORM; BANDED TRIM; DOMED COVER; NEVER MONOGRAMMED; THOMAS WALKER, LONDON, 1809
This is an elegant, George III English sterling silver covered box. From the rarely observed London firm of Thomas Walker. Date marked 1809. Walker is first listed in 1800, fourth and last mark 1810. The covered box is well crafted in circular, cylindrical form. Conforming, softly domed cover. Which fits over the base, rather than recessed. Cover with banded trim as well. Smooth finish throughout. Never monogrammed. This handsome, George III sterling silver covered box is 1 5/8 inches diameter, 1 3/8 tall and weighs 1 1/4 ounces. Excellent condition. Amazing after almost 200 years. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Closes securely. Couple of tiny, pin head indents, not at all distracting. Hallmarked to shoulder, bit rubbed, and partial, well struck marks under cover. Please feel free to inquire directly about this, or any item we've listed. Whether the item is alone or part of a set. We charge a bit more than actual cost for custom size boxes, shipping materials. And to pay for professional packing. We make great effort to accurately describe each item listed. Returns are accepted, without question. If either condition, country of origin or dating is significantly incorrect. In such cases we refund your shipping costs as well. Like you, we are only human, and make mistakes. Hopefully, not too many. Remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse. Nor change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand. Please note, Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax. We have over 2225 feedbacks. And, are quite proud of our 99.6% rating. We received favorable notice in the March 12th New York Times. Page 8, Business Section, in a well written article on silver collecting. Copy furnished upon request. Enjoy....and good fortune in your bidding.
