I attend the World War II weekend that is scheduled every June inReading Pennsylvania. It is three days long and I usually attend everyday to acquire relics and autographs as well as see the great events. This show and reenactment has lots of great airplanes, reenactors and famous WWII vets signing autographs. Paul Tibbets or the pilot of the Enola Gay was just in 2006. He did not attend in 2005 and did not return in 2007 due to health reasons. Paul has tragically passed away. I had him sign multiple autographs and show a picture that I took of him signing a print. My inventory is running low. Some previous bidders have requested that I show him signing to verify that I had him autograph my items personally. I met with him personally over 30 times. I'm offering this great signed photo of the Enola Gay on a hardstand on the North Field at Tinian. This photo was not one offered at the show and I carried it t to be signed. The photo that he is signing in the snapshot was another one that I purchased that he did offer at the show. This photo is slightly pixelated due to lower resolution of the original but still a good historic photo. Measures 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches and is a glossy photo signed in black felt tip. Below is information on the photo: show, Tibbets, and the Enola Gay.
Photo info: Photo was personally signed by Paul Tibbets and he writes "Paul Tibbets, Pilot" and adds the date of the mission as "TO HIROSHIMA, 6 Aug. 1945." Photo is a basic gloss photo of the Enola Gay B-29 parked on a hardstand on the North Field Tinian. Inset includes Tibbets during WWII in uniform. MAAM Show: Since 1990 the Mid Atlantic Air Museum's World War II Weekend has become the largest and best attended nationally known WWII Commemoration. It started as a recreated airfield during the WWII 50th anniversary celebrations and now, as we observe the 60th anniversary of D-Day, it has grown exponentially into a WWII "Renaissance Fair." With encampments and displays that represent the European, Pacific and Mediterranean Theaters, and the Great American Home Front, 70 aircraft, 200 period vehicles and over 1100 period living history interpreters and entertainers, it all adds up to what Militaria International Magazine calls the "Best WWII Show in the U.S., Bar None" New to the airshow this year will be the inclusion of the USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II Demo Team along with Mr. Jim Beasley Jr. in his P-51D Mustang. Each afternoon the A-10 and P-51 will join in the air for the USAF Heritage Flight. Visit the David Schultz Airshows web site for more information. WWII WEEKEND IS SEVEN SHOWS IN ONE!
