GORGEOUS Czechoslovakian Epiag Royal matching floral & gild plates from a high end estate sale, set of 8. These plates are approximately 10.75" diameter each. I can tell you that the pictures just do not do the plates justice! These are QUALITY and they show it! I don't believe that they are hand painted, but they leave us with the impression that they are. There are 10 scallops around the edge of each plate. There is considerable gold leafing around the edge as well as on each side of the rosy mauve banding in the middle of the plate (the 4th picture shows the most acurate color of the rosy banding). The middle area of the plate is a white, with the outer area being just a little darker off white. Although the white and off white are not a perfect match to my Lenox Eternal, they do go quite well together. The plates look as though they have rarely been used. There are almost no knife marks, and those are very light. There is one plate with a pin point size darker spot in the middle area under the glaze (see the last picture). The primary colors are rosy mauve and gilding, with highlights of yellow, blue, pink, violet, green and a small amount of orange in the floral display. The book, Porcelain Marks of the World by Emauel Poche indicates that these plates were made after 1918. My impression is that they were made either in the 1930's or the early 1950's. These plates are really in quite exceptional condition for their age, with very little missing or crackled gilding, few manufacturers defects, and have bright and clear colors. You can use these as dinner plates or to serve your pastries, etc. to your dinner guests or as decorative wall, cabinet, or table art. They certainly make a beautiful display!
