Description, contents and further details: The Epitoma bellorum Alberti Saxoniae ducis is a Latin poem composed in hexameters. It was written by Konrad Wimpina in honour of Albert III Duke of Saxony (1443-1500). Furthermore, the incunable contains reports of Albert's wars in Lower Germany as well as the Flamish and Frisian regions. The book is printed in a Gothic type with 19 lines on each page. Many pages have printed annotations at the margins. T is a large hand-painted initial with ornaments in red and blue on leaf C6 verso. In addition, the book is fully rubricated (printed initials and paragraph marks) and contains further large initials in red. Furthermore two impressive woodcut illustrations are included in the incunabulum. The facsimile title page shows Albert III in full armor with a Saxon coat of arms. The last page shows Wolfgang Stöckel's printer's mark with two coats of arms.Konrad Wimpina (i.e. Konrad Koch) (c. 1460-1531) started his studies in Leipzig in 1479 and received his master's degree in 1485.
