Vintage NewEra Rescue Squad Truck Marvin Silverstein Tonka and Nylint #2 of 2 Made Marv Silverstein, a master restorationartist, started a business called New Era Quality Toys in Lambertville, NJ. His career began with restoring old toy cars and trucks from the early part of the century. As his popularity and reputation grew, his focus expanded to creating his own designs by taking pressed steel toy cars and trucks and modifying them into his own creations. He never had any formal auto body work training but that didn't keep him from learning how to do it. He found that collectors would pay big money for his craftsmanship and that of his son, Avi Jerchower, who became his business partner. New Era grew to have customers all over the country. What you are looking at is a Rescue Squad that Marv and his son created from a Tonka Toy truck and a NyLint horse trailer. The result of merging the two vehicles is this wonderfully clever and skillfully built rescue squad with a striking orange finish. The undercarriage bears a production plaque signed by both Marv and Avi from New Era Toys of Lambertville, NJ, showing that the restoration took place in 1993, and this is truck 02 of 02. The rescue squad measures approximately 19" long, 6” high and 5¼” wide and weighs close to 5 pounds. Unfortunately the doors don’t open. It a great display
