V. & T. R. R.1/2" SCALE DRAWING OF A VIRGINIA & TRUCKEE 4-4-0MEASURES 18X36HAS TWO SEPARATE DRAWINGS ONE ELEVATION AND ONE SECTION VIEW These two panels are a restoration of the original master drawing used by Baldwin to build the Reno, as well as the V&T's other two 4-4-0's, the Genoa (1873) and the Inyo (1875). This locomotive class, originally introduced by Baldwin in the mid 1860's as 27 1/2 C, had evolved by late 1871 as the 20th version to Drawing No. 20 of Dec. 12 1871. Later by mid 1872 Baldwin renamed this same drawing more precisely as 8.26.C class, with "8" denoting the total number of engine wheels, "26" equal to twice the cylinder size (16 inches) minus 6, and lastly "C" denoting four driving wheels.
