From 1935 here is a TRUE Penguin first edition first printing of Ernest Hemingway's A Farewell To Arms.What makes this copy particularly rare is that although it is a paperback, it was published with a dustjacket.My understanding is this is extremely unusual for Penguin. Thankfully the copy of this book is in very good condition with no major faults. There is a small, neat ink inscription on the title page, dated August 1, 1935.The dustjacket itself is missing some small sections to the top left of the front and at the top of the spine and also there is a little hole on the back of the DJ, where the first ten Bodley Head publications are listed (A Farewell To Arms was the second ever published). But all in all the plastic-protected dustjacket is in remarkably good condition for a book published 77 years ago.Try as I may I have not been able to source another copy of this first edition with a dustjacket on any of the usual bookselling sites (abebooks, bookfinder, alibris).I would be happy to email more pictures if contacted by potential bidders.If you wish to read more about the early Penguin Bodley Head publications please look at this link:http://www./books/bodley-head-hemingway-christie-sayers/penguin.shtml
