Erte was a Russian-born master of fashion, stage and Art-Deco design. He lived in Paris and his name “Erte” is actually derived from the French pronunciation of the initials of his real name, Romain de Tirtoff. Erte died at 97 in 1990 so his prolific designs spanned most of the 20 th century. Here’s a chance to own 54 of Erte’s sought-after designs! These playing cards were produced in 1982 for use in the world bridge championships. This set of heavily gilded edged cards is in new and unused condition, opened only to view some of the superb artwork. Each card holds original artwork against a black background and all cards have Erte’s signature. In past auctions, similar decks have sold for $300 for a bridge set and individual cards/greeting cards range from $6-20 each. Needless to say, this is a bargain price for a chance to own so many Erte designs. I had planned to frame these cards, but will pass that project on as an option to their next owner. They come new, unused, and from a smoke-free and pet-free home.
