lot of 4. The fish definitely will bite these lures; all beautifully carved and decorated. Includes a small fossilized ivory lure with inlaid red and blue trade beads and with suspension hole near top, length 1.75`; PLUS an ivory lure carved to replicate a salmon(?), complete with tiny incised dots and metal or baleen eye (one missing). Remnants of sinew and metal in holes near end of tail and tuft of red yarn at base of vicious hook, length 3.75`. Old label states that this lure was `bought in Anchorage Alaska in 1949.` PLUS ivory lure replicating another marine animal with metal or baleen eyes and with a large hole at opposite end, length 1.75`; AND soapstone hook with an incised fish on either side and with a soapstone barb laced to lure with gut, length 3.3`. Really great ethnographic material.
