Up for auction 1999 ESP JH3 James Hetfield Signature Guitar, number 62 of 100. Owned since 2004 and cared for ever since. I'm not going to lie this has been played over the years, who could resist, but as my only rare guitar it has always been treated with respect and not thrown about and abused and has always been stored in its case. No modifications, all original. It never came with a COA but I did go through quite a bit of effort some years ago dealing direct with ESP in order to get confirmation that the guitar was legit, see photo of letter for proof. They confirm it's a genuine JH3 and in my correspondence with them they admitted that some COA's never made it to the dealers when they were sent from the factory and a replacement can not be issued. It does have the usual tell-tale signs of being played with a few minor belt bucket scratches on the back of the body and a few around where your wrist would naturally sit by the bridge when playing it, none of these scratches are deep or reveal any bear wood. The fret board is in great condition with no dents in the frets themselves and the wood also has no signs of drying out,nicks or marks.
