Approximately 20 grams of gold would have this at around $300.00 just in scrap value! I found this at the most wonderful estate sale I have ever been to, bar none! It wasn't simply the amazing array of extraordinary vintage & antique items, but the house, itself. This house, built in 1907, is from Arts & Crafts Period & absolutely stunning! Just the tiles above the door & over the fireplace!... well, anyway. The point of this introduction is an effort to express just how fabulous this charm bracelet is. Like the house in which I found it, this bracelet is one of the most beautiful, interesting, exciting & fun pieces I have ever seen. The rose gold bracelet is a beautiful & unusual double link design. With links that look almost like figure eights & linked together in curly Qs, it's a link I've never seen. It looks as though the goldsmith soldered the links in 2 places to create, not only very secure links, but a unique design pattern. The soldering is also gold that matches the link & done beautifully. It took a long time studying it under a loupe to figure out how this was made. It only goes to support the fineness & quality of this bracelet. 7 ¼ inches long & 5mm wide, it also has a paper clip chain safety chain with a hook end. The clasp is a simple spring ring clasp. The condition is excellent. I see no wear, splits, breaks or anything that suggests damage. One link, near one end of the bracelet, has a crimp that needs to be smoothed out. The bracelet is at least 14k. It is marked 750 on the flat ring used to hook onto the clasp. It also has what looks like a portion of a 5 & 0 with a portion of a number before those. I'm not sure what this second set of numbers refers to, but it told me I needed to test the bracelet carefully & thoroughly. The ring & the links test with no reaction whatsoever at 14k. The gold does not dissolve at all, no reaction, not even after several minutes. When tested with 18k acid, the streaks begin to dissolve after 30 seconds, but never completely disappear. I think this means the bracelet was sold originally as 18k, but is closer to 17k. It looks as though the clasp & safety chain are replaced. They are not marked, but are gold. The clasp is rose gold; it tests very strongly at 14k (no reaction), but does dissolve more quickly (not entirely) at 18k. The safety chain is yellow gold & tests 14k. Perhaps the safety chain was an addition rather than a replacement. It's nice to have one on the really good pieces, like this. I feel like this bracelet is older, perhaps with it's beginning in the 20s or 30s. The color, design & the charms lead me to this conclusion. I have a feeling these charms were given over the years, likely for anniversaries & birthdays. Some of the ideas that go with the charms were popular at different times over the last 80 years. The former wearer of this beauty had a very long & full life. T is also the possibility it was a travel charm bracelet, one which was worn as they traveled (across Italy, if this is the case). It has charms that could easily represent wandering through the vinyards, seaports & cities of Italy. Ah, the charms! They are so interesting & so beautiful & so different! I have not found any exactly like them on Ebay or any other on line site. I have searched like crazy to find the maker's marks that is on some of these also, & also to no avail. T are 9 charms, total. 7 are gold, 2 are not. The two that are not are the figa fist, which is brass & the Dr. Pepper bottle, which is gold tone & may be dipped. The 7 gold charms are beautiful, in outstanding vintage condition & 18k. 6 are marked...
