For your examination is a genuine old 19th Century
(possibly earlier) Bronze Buddha from a local estate
art and antiques collection. This superb sculpture still
has its original antiquities tag. I've included
many photos for you to examine.
An IMPRESSIVE, LARGE BRONZE 19th Century BUDDHA

From Local Estate Art Collection of Orchestra Violinist, Philadelphia, Pa.
This piece is from a major collection of antiques and art collected by a former
Orchestra Violinist from Philadelphia who traveled extensively and collected
only the best American, European, and Asian antiques, art and sculpture.
MEASUREMENTS:
16-1/4" TALL x 4" Wide x 4" Deep
Weighs 3lbs-4oz.
This wonderful estate piece has been in the a
Philadelphia collection and will ship from the
Philadelphia suburbs, not from overseas.
The face of this Buddha absolutely radiates the wisdown
and knowledge...the peace and serenity that we
associate with Buddha and Buddhism.
CONDITION:
The patina is exquisite and shows the blue-green oxydation
and patination that you'd expect in such a piece. There is
the appropriate wear; the result, I suspect, of much of handling
and touching. As you can see, there are areas of bronze
oxydation, pitting, and in general, wear and tear, scratches,
dings, holes, etc. that are appropriate to its age. These
Bronze Buddha heads were occasionally crudely cut
off of larger sculptures; you can see areas at the neck
where there may be signs of such removal. These
losses or breaks are typical and add to the character.
This piece is from a LOCAL Philadelphia estate (ships from
here...not from overseas). Ships to the U.S. via USPS Mail
and will be fully insured for free. If there is damage or loss in
shipping buyer must take the box, packing material and
sculpture to their local post office and file a claim directly.

Perfect for desk, book shelf display, coffee table, or pedestal...I've seen
similar selling in N.Y. Galleries for over $600.00. This is an Asian antique...I
can't say what it's origin or age is but I'd guess, Thai ( Sukothai ~Sukhothai
~ Budha ~ Buddha ), Chinese, Japanese; possibly Cambodian. I've searched
under Buddah, Budda, Budha, Khmer, Royal, talisman antiquity, Thailand,
China, Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Tribal, Southeast Asia, walking, standing,
monk, ayuthaya, angkor, Lord, period amulet, Phra, medicine, medicinal,
antique era Buddhism, Buddhist, Hindu~there are many opinions on this
out there. What I can say is that this is a interesting piece from a fabulous
Philadelphia collection of art and antiques, possibly 19th or 20th century.
I'm not an expert on these sculptures but it appears to me to have some
age. This could be an important piece; more research is needed.
This is an old fashioned Ebay auction...there is NO RESERVE...this
Buddha will sell to the highest bidder; there is no Buy It Now; the
auction will not end early. There are no returns. I'm not an expert on
Asian antiques, but this piece looks like it has some age and I
believe it is late 19th century possibly early to mid 20th Century.
But its a powerful sculpture that has a wonderful and serene
presense. I accept Paypal; payment to be made within 72
hours of the end of the auction; I reserve the right to relist
this sculpture if payment hasn't been received.
