This listing is for a framed ART PRINT that came from an estate auction. I know very little about art, so I will do my best to describe this piece. If you have any questions that my pictures or description fail to address, please message me through Ebay. This artwork is TITLED (in the lower left border) in pencil: "Nelson's Flagship HMS Victory". "Portsmouth" is penciled in the lower right border. With the colored print is the artist's name: W.L. Wyllie. The sticker attached to the back of the frame reads "Cohen's Inc. 1227 G St NW Popular Price PICTURE STORE of WASHINGTON, DC". From information that I obtained online, WL Wyllie (William Lionel Wyllie) was an English artist who painted MARITIME scenes. His works were primarily created between 1860's-1930, when he painted a 42 foot panorama of the Battle of Trafalgar. This Nelson Flagship scene was extremely dirty when I bought it, almost to the point that I couldn't see much through the glass. I wiped down the exterior of the glass, but I did not remove the artwork from the original framing, so it could definitely be cleaned up some more. I will leave that task to someone who knows what they are doing. T is some discoloration that can be seen, but it looks like the discoloration spots are actually on the interior of the glass, instead of the artwork. However, the only way for me to be certain would be by taking the work out of the framing. The artwork appears to be in good condition. I don't think that you will be at all disappointed with this vintage WL WYLLIE PRINT. The opening in the matt(for the artwork) measures about 5 3/4" X 7 1/2" and the frame is about 12" X 16". Please look at my pictures, as they will show you much more than I can say in words. This vintage print would make a wonderful accent in any decor, but especially in a room with a Maritime theme. **If you need specific information that I or my photos fail to address, email me with your questions and I will try to get the answers for you.
