Four panel Japanese Byobu screen. Measures 3' tall by 70" wide. T are metal rings on the top for hanging. The word Byobu means screen in Japanese and is most often used to divide two rooms or to decorate walls. Use it as art on a wall, hang it from a ceiling, or easily prop it on the floor to customize a space. This particular Byobu screen is an antique that was purchased in Japan in the mid 20 th century . While a lot of screens these days are made by machines, this one is totally authentic and hand painted on paper and mounted on silk brocade. It's the real deal and the artist signed it on the center on the right hand side. A screen like this will make any room gorgeous. In particular, this screen shows natural cherry blossoms, which is such a beautifully authentic image and very akin to the genre. T is a gorgeous golden hue that will bring richness and sophistication to your room. I've seen a few of these screens over the years, but never one this beautiful. Maybe it's just my affinity for cherry blossoms, but it's just a beautiful image. An artist produced this screen in the tradition of the craft by painting a beautiful cherry blossom image on paper mounted on silk. The frame is wood and the back is made of fabric. Overall, this screen gives a positive, beautiful effect to any room. T are a few signs of age, as shown in the photos. read more
