DESCRIPTION: This is a lot of over 1000 old Illinois postcards (no Chicago cards) from the estates of two life-long collectors. Chicago postcards currently are listed in a separate auction on eBay. TYPES OF POST CARDS: The lot consists of the following:about 45 real photo post cards,about 55 undivided back cards (pre-1908), about 300 older cards (1907-15), approximately 100 white border cards (1915-30), about 450 linen era cards (1930s-50s), anda mixture of over 120 printed cards (any era possible but appear to be mostly 1940s-50s). Views include the buildings, bridges, schools, parks, historical sites, etc.DUPLICATION: T are two kinds of possible duplication in lots: 1) duplication of subject (e.g., a NY City collector could have 100 different Statue of Liberty cards) and 2) duplication of a specific card (i.e., more than one copy of the same card).T is some duplication of both types in this lot. The majority of duplication appears to be in the linen historical (i.e., Lincoln) cards. SIZE: Standard (approx. 3 ½" x 5 ½" ) Scanned cards are enlarged to show detail. AGE/ERA: 1900-1950s CONDITION: The vast majority of cards are in good to very good condition. Some are in excellent condition and a few in fair to poor condition with soft edges, scrap book paste or soil or age coloring on the reverse. Occasionally, some bright person has tried to remove the extremely valuable one cent stamp (yes, we "jest") off a fragile, 90 year-old postcard. If the process does not compromise the card (e.g., ruin the corner), we will likely include it in the lot. We try not to let any ugly cards get through, but occasionally, ugly happens. Cards are postally used and unused. PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT: Winner agrees to pay the USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate ($8.95) S&H. Because of the weight of these lots, if you win more than one lot you will need to pay shipping costs for each lot.If paying with a check or money order, please send payment within 10 days. Please do not send stamps for payment. Please note: Postal insurance is recommended. We pack well but cannot be responsible for damage or loss in the mails.
