This Old German Black Forest Musical Cuckoo clock was found at a recent estate sale as part of a collection on American and European antique clocks. (Please view the pictures below). The lovely Cuckoo clock's hand carved wooden case shows great detail in it's deep carved designs . The center case was designed as a Little Mountain Chalet complete with pitched roof and lovely Black forest floral consisting of leaves and tree limbs framing the sides and bottom. These floral carvings were carved from a single piece of wood. The top of the Chalet has a crown top piece with more of the floral carvings and a winged bird perched at the top. The bird has a Red glass eye. The face of the clock is numbered in White Roman numerals against a Black background. The hands are very decorative in the design and also White in color. At the peak of the front t are two wooden hinged doors. The one of the right is w the Cuckoo bird comes out of and Coo Coos once on the half hour and as many times needed on the hour or day. After the Cuckoo bird finishes on the hour the left door will open and a little German man comes out while a lovely Musical tune is played in the background. The movement was created from Brass metal by the noted German clock company "Regula" and operated by three pine cone shaped metal weights that hang on Brass chains. The movement read more
