This exquisite pair of very old and very heavy quadruple silverplate candelabra from a Palm Beach same from an estate sale. However, they are missing their bases. A family quarrel split the tops and bottoms. I do not know the pattern. The maker's marks are very old and have been worn down through the years by the many candles they have held. T markers are in four square with engraving now worn by time. The style number of 4554 can be seen on each piece, and the numbers are not always in a straight line. It looks as if they were placed one at a time by hand. I do not see any indication that these are English, and they strongly resemble the intricate work of the E.G Webster& Son both in style and in the heavy silver plate. Each candelabra weighs 4 ¼ pounds. T are no flaws on these, and the base metal does not show through anyw The width across 16 ½ inches, and the height is 8 ½ inches. The center holder, without the top is 4 ½ lower, and with the top is 2 ½ inches lower . The pattern is gorgeous - intricate gadrooning is deeply etched on each candle holder with more decorative work on the curved and ribbed arms linking the 3 candle holders, which swirl around the center holder. Bases to go with these should not be hard to find, as they could be plain or with similar gadroon designing. You can also choose any height you wish to complete these elegant triple candle holders. Each candelabrum has the ability to hold 3 candles, but they each can also hold two candles. The center candle form can be left as the decorative ornament displayed in the photos - the same shape candle holders but with a top caped with a spiral silver flame -- or it can hold the third candle. Shipping weight on these would be about 10 pounds because of the packaging needed to secure them.
