Jemez Etched Bowl Artist: Wilma Baca Dimensions: 6 3/4" Tall x 7" Wide This beautiful piece was hand coiled, polished and etched by Wilma Baca, a well known Jemez artist in New Mexico. Wilma is best known for her impressive four feather design which covers many of her pieces. This piece is etched with this pattern on each side of the piece with the front and back are decorated with a nice triangular shaped area which has various traditional patterns with in it. Included in these patterns are feathers, clouds, whirl wind and kiva step patterns. The mouth of the piece was done in a unqiue wave like style. The differnt arms of this wave pattern are also bordered with traditional etchings. One is a repeating kiva step patter, another is a combination of whirl winds and kiva steps, another is a large whirl wind with small kiva steps and the last is a feather, cloud and kiva step pattern. All of these etchings were done on a smooth, red polish. The polish really catches the light and makes the etchings stand out. All of the etchings are geometric and flow nicely around the piece. The piece is in excellent condition, free of scratches, scuffs or cracks. It is symmetric and balanced and sits nicely on any flat surface. It is signed on the bottom by Wilma. All of our items are shipped DOUBLE BOXED to prevent damage during thier travels. read more
