Welcome Thank you for visiting! This is a really beautiful souvenir of the 1893 Columbian Exposition, better known to most of us as the Chicago World's Fair. This was a major historical event. It presaged the the future of America as a consumerist society, putting on show the power and potential of electricity, and introduced numerous firsts including the first "theme park", the first elevated internal railroad system, and the first belly dancers in America. Numerous products and brands were introduced including Aunt Jemima, Cracker Jack, Cream of Wheat, Quaker Oats, rolled pennies, the Ferris wheel, hamburgers and picture postcards among others. This ruby glass cup was hand-etched with "World's Fair 1893" and "Louise" along with a flower and its associated leaves. The cup has no significant wear or scratches, but has a crack top-to-bottom of the vessel alongside the handle. I have included a photo of the crack. The cup is about two and three-quarters inches in height and three inches in maximum diameter, with the handle extending another inch. Feel free to ask questions before you bid.
