Please note that this is a NO RESERVE auction!*** A VERY HIGH QUALITY AND RARE PIECE! Omanis have an internationally known and respected reputation for their work with silver and the handicraft items they produce. The work that is done is spectacular and for anyone who is a collector of rare worldwide, ethnic pieces, be it new or old, a piece of the Omani artisan's work will surely be enjoyed for years to come. The khanjar is an important part of the Omani man's traditional dress and the Omani style of khanjar is unique. The combined efforts can take anyw from 1 to 2 months to create a custom khanjar. The khanjar's price is greatly varied and depending on the quality of the handle's base, the blade material itself, the purity of the silver and, perhaps above all, the difficulty of the design crafted on the casing, these exquisite knives can cost anyw from $100 to $5,000. Obviously due to the low price, this is a fairly basic khanjar. If you are looking for a more valuable, antique, or made with different elements(inc gold, horn, etc) I would be happy to find one for you. The entire Khanjar when put together is 9.5 inches long. The blade itself alone is 5.75 inches long. It is exquisitely handmade made with and crafted with traditional Omani designs and a brilliant use of color. I have included pictures of the khanjar itself, plus a few others. One picture shows Prince Charles being given a khanjar as a gift from Omani dignitaries during a visit to Oman. The khanjar is considered a special gift that represents the culture and heritage of Oman. Another picture shows an official portrait of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos(the ruler of Oman) wearing his khanjar in the traditional style. The next picture shows an Oman craftsman working on a khanjar. And finally, t is a picture of the Omani coat of arms, which is also on the Omani flag, showing the cental position of the Khanjar as representing Oman and it's people. I am also including a couple of pictures of how the jambiya looks in a shadow box frame. Many collectors use these frames to attractively display their items. This khanjar is coming from Oman. You can ship via Express Mail Service (EMS) for $23.00 worldwide(about 5 to 10 business days), or regular parcel post is $9 (about 10 to 14 business days). If you buy more than one item, I will ship together for no additional cost. *Please note that due to having a car in the shop, for a while, I may be able to get to the post office once or twice a week. Once I get my car back I'll be able to continue to ship immediately after purchase. Thanks for your patience!
