ANTIQUE COPPER/BRASS TEA KETTLE EUROPEAN ORIGINAL This lovely old tea kettle was purchased by my mother in law in Scotland in the 50's. It has been in the family ever since. When she purchased it, she found it in a nice little antique shop in Scotland. That would mean it was at least 75 years old when she purchased it and then add another 52 years for the time in our family. That would date it back about 1877 I believe. This would be to the best of my knowledge. The tea kettle is in very good shape, however, we do not, nor have we ever actually used it for liquid. It has only been used as a conversation piece by the fireplace. I have not, nor have we ever polished it, to make it shiney. I presume it could be made that way if you so desire. But it remains with the same patina as when this family purchased it some 52 + or - years. It looks like part of the handle is brass as well as the tip on the lid. It is a very nice looking piece which would lend itself to any home. I am sizing back as I have not places to sit things and that is why I am selling it. I am going to a "less is best" feel at home these days! I would say this piece would look stunning in a French Country style or an English style or a Country style. The tea kettle measures 8" from the bottom to the top of the lid knob and 10.5" on up to the top of the handle. read more
