Excellent Split Column Shelf Clock, Boardman & Wells, Bristol, Connecticut, c.1835. Mahogany veneered case with stenciled half columns and splat, exceptional wood dial, paper label, old mirror in place of lithograph in door, 30 hour time and strike, wood movement with iron weights, and pendulum. Height 34 inches, and 17 1/2 inches wide. Includes key to lock and winder.
The case is in excellent condition retaining its veneer, and stenciling. The wood clock works are in excellent condition showing little use. The spring was wound tight, and will need to be adjusted.
Boardman & Wells (Chauncey Boardman and Joseph A. Wells). Established in 1815 in Bristol Connecticut. Shortly after 1820, these partners built a factory in North Forestville, Connecticut, undoubtedly one of the most important at the time.
Difficult to fine these old mantel clocks in this good of original condition!
