A RARE Bright 1st Edition 1st impression NOW WE ARE SIX By A A Milne with decorations by Ernest H Shepard Methuen & Co Ltd LONDON 1927 : 1st Edition / 1st printing Original dark red cloth, gilt decorations, aeg. Salmon pink pictorial endpapers. 19 cm x 13 cm : 103 pp The classic collection of poetry for children, with illustrations throughout - including Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga, Owl, and not forgetting Christopher Robin. Includes my two favourites : King John's Christmas a nd A Thought The instantly recognisable illustrations are within the text and full page. A A Milne ( 1882 - 1956 ) worked as a playwright and was assistant editor of Punch before producing his first children's book of verse - When We Were Very Young 1924 . This was soon followed by Winnie the Pooh 1926 , Now We Are Six 1927 and The House at Pooh Corner 1928. Ernest H Shepard ( 1879 - 1976 ) was also working for Punch, which is how he won the commission for these 4 classic titles . Together they produced a set of Perennial British Favourites. Condition : Covers bright with small mark on front board & rubbing to corners and spine ends . Spine mildly sunned - titles still legible. Gilt bright. H inges tight. Neat name
