Hey Everyone! I have got today just one of the many visor caps that I will be selling over the next few months. Please continue to watch my other auctions for more outstanding items to come! Up today is this strikingly beautiful WWII US Army Air Force Officer's visor cap! In the first few years of the Air Corps, many officers took their service caps ( like this one ) and removed the stiffner to give the cap the "crushed" look. This cap still retains its metal stiffner! The cap has a beautiful fur felt top ( with one minor spot of light moth tracking but nothing serious and unnoticeable ). The OD mohair band that surrounds the cap has also endured the years and retained its rich color. I love the brass screwback eagle on the front of the cap. I love the leather visor , matching chinstrap, and the very popular "cavalry" style backstrap! The visor is relatively flexible as well. The cap is IDed is underneath the liner. The cap is IDed to James F. Casey, Serial Number W 2142324. Apparently, this fellow worked at a Hospital, most likely a physician or administrative officer. The sweatband is supple and fully attached. What is unusual about this cap is that it is stamped to the Philadelphia Q.M. Depot, dated January 1, 1945. The cap is marked as a size 7. What a wonderful addition this cap would make to any collection! I will work read more
