Excellent piece of rough lapis. The color is a beautiful blue. Should make VERY beautiful cabs! Little overall calcite as most has been chiseled away. Appears to be some internal calcite. This material was hand selected for me upon request and I paid more then normal for that request! Not to mention prices have risen drastically due to shipping costs and general economic woes(what hasn't!) I never high grade my pieces. I request gem grade and always t are some pieces better then others as I do order in bulk. Top grade has a price of $300 to $1000 a kilo! I'm not talking about the layered calcite/lapis/calcite/lapis pieces that are so common (wich cost around $15.00 a kilo) but for solid color material it is VERY expensive. I do start my prices well below wholesale (what someone would pay purchasing bulk quantities) and even well below my cost. Please be aware of light falsification! Lapis gets that purple-ish hue under florescent lighting which does not reflect that color in "natural" light...(outdoors) This is why I always take my photographs outside. This is the most natural setting to see lapis in it's normal state. is some excellent Lapis Lazuli. This is from the Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan .
