Exceptional Antique Carved Dog Head Handle Cane Walking Stick w Glass Eyes On auction today is a wonderful early cane with a beautifully carved dog head handle with glass eyes...a superb gift for the antique and or dog lover you know. The cane measures 35-1/2" long. It has a metal ferrule (the dog's collar) and its original iron tip which really shows the great age of this cane. The shaft has an excellent grain and is well tapered, measuring 0.82" wide below the collar and 0.63" at the tip. The ferrule also has some letters on it...I can't make out what it says but a close up photo was taken and is shown below. The shaft seems good and strong but I don't recommend it for bearing weight due to its age. Thanks for looking and best of luck bidding! Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
