For your pleasure - I offer a SUPERB JAPANESE CLOISONNE VASE WITH AN UNUSUALLY SHAPED BASE. Probably a product of the late 1880s - this vase looks like a product of the Ando Studios; I have sold several examples signed Ando on this site - and the only difference is the maker's mark! The overall decoration is elaborate and finely worked in silver wire. T are shield shaped reserves containing Dragons and Phoenix, lozenge shaped reserves with butterflies & flowers, chrysanthemums with scrolled foliage, lots of brocaded geometrics, and the very unusual brilliant apple green lining. The shape is unusual; a basic amphora form ........ with the addition of the very bulbous base which is capped by a brass foot ring, the bottom stamped with the maker's mark. Dimensions: 7-1/2 inches tall x 3-1/4 inches diameter at mouth x 2-1/8 inches diameter at foot. Condition is mint and pristine - and this is a great example to add to your collection!
