A large and very complete agatized coral head from Tampa Bay. This piece has both a stalactite chalcedony chamber and a quartz crystal chamber on the cut and polished side. It also has very well preserved coraline structure on the other sides. One other side is cut, but not polished, showing the radiating structure very well. The top has coral polyps, although they don't show up well in the photo (last one). The blue color on the chalcedony is a coating I have not been able to remove. I got this piece many years ago in Tampa and have seen very few like it since. The piece is odd shaped but about 9" x 9" across the face and about 6" deep. It weighs about 19 lbs.
