This beautiful Windsor arm chair was made by Frederick Duckloe & Bros., Inc., in Portland, PA. This company is well known for very high quality colonial reproduction furniture and has been in business since 1859. As detailed on their website, they have made furniture for such places as Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the Smithsonian Institution, Valley Forge, and the entrance hall of the Eisenhower Home at Gettysburg. Our chair is in excellent condition. We have owned it since the 1980's and it has been very lightly used in an adult household of non-smokers. It was made sometime before that time. The finish is original and beautiful. For some unknown reason, someone has handwritten the word "antique" near the Duckloe logo on the bottom of the seat, but it should be easily removable. This graceful chair appears to be the same design as Duckloe's current Windsor Chair #22 Gentleman's Arm Chair, which sells for $555. The company typically uses various woods for different parts of their chairs, and that is true of our chair. The craftsmanship is superb. The finish is dark brown. The approximate dimensions are: Height 46", Depth 24", Width 27". This elegant chair would be a great holiday gift. We prefer that the chair be picked up, or we could deliver it within 100 miles for a nominal charge. We are located near Exit 339 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. If desired, the buyer may arrange with a commercial company for packing and shipping.
