Exceptional Yahyali Village vintage rug Circa 1950's (often described as Yahyali-which literally means in English 'from Yahya'). Beautiful classic Ottoman Golds, darker cerise, and characteristic dark blues and golds with white motif work.A single medallion, which is shaved giving an almost 3D effect to the center medallion of this piece. Most of the blue wool surrounding motifwork has been shaved which gives this rug an extremely interesting and exotic feel to it, absolutely wonderful craftsmanship and incredible skill went into the weaving and construction of this gorgeous piece. Acknowledged as one of the premier weaving villages in Central Anatolia. Yahyali is located south-east of Nigde, which is known for the fine knotting technique employed by expert tribal weavers, this hand-knotted and vegetable extract dyed wool-on-wool foundation rug has approximately144 KPSI Turkish double knots with incredibly dense weaving occasioning its 30 pound weight.This rug is in A1 pristine condition with beautiful tasseling work at each end Dimensions are 7' 9" X 3' 8".
