This items is a new Millers Falls No. 5A hand drill. Starting from the front, the chuck is nickle-plated, has three jaws, operates freely, and the knurling is in excellent condition. T is no rust. The frame of the drill is in excellent shape with the black japanning 100%. The wood main handle is painted black and is in excellent condition, as is its nickle-plated ferule. The main gear is painted a later period Millers Falls medium red, and the paint condition is100%. The crank is nickle-plated, and is stamped "Millers Falls Co., No. 5A, Greenfield, Mass, made in U.S.A.". It is also stamped with the triangular Millers Falls Company logo. The wood crank handle and wood side handle are in very good condition as are their nickle plated ferules. The wood crank handle and the wood side handle have a few scuff marks that will easily buff out with wax and polish. The drill is a little "tight" as far as operating it is concerned, but this will disappear with lubrication and use. This is an excellent drill for the Millers Falls collector! Good luck bidding!
