1:18 Ferrari 500 F2
1952 GP de Pau
SHORT NOSE
WINNER #32
ALBERTO
ASCARI
RACING LEGEND'S WINGED CLASSIC, LISTED AS EXCLUSIVE TO EXOTO COLLECTOR'S CLUB MEMBERS AT $398.95. BRAND NEW IN BOXES. MY MODEL SHOWN.
Ferrari's 500 F2 could well have been the greatest racing car of all time. For two seasons running, '52 and '53, the 500 F2 with Alberto Ascari driving took the Grand Prix Championship. Among car and driver's 1952 triumphs was the twisty Grand Prix de Pau XIII through the city's streets in France's Basque Country on April 4th. A drive in the country was very much the story for the extraordinary Ascari, as he took the lead early in #32 and never let up. Pau led off the '52 season and was the first of Ascari's six formula wins that championship year.
As with Exoto's already-retired 500 F2s, this #32 tribute sports Ferrari's dominant 180 hp 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine, fully wired and plumbed; Short Nose Egg-Crate grille; short-pipe exhaust system; working steering and suspension; detailed cockpit with full instrumentation; brass steering column and miniature domed nuts, rivets, and braided hoses; working springs that secure the bonnet; tread-accurate Pirellis over killer wire wheels; that uninhibited #32 livery; and that lovely ribbon of blue gracing the nose. Ferrari indeed ruled.
Noteable also are the clear plastic engine viewing cover, the hand crank which attaches to the starter shaft in the nose, and the fuel tank vents aft of the rear numbers.
This #32 is not only essential to any Ferrari collection, it is so to any racing collection. Do not let it get past you.
