Gorgeous lusterware handpainted 18-piece (including lids) tea set made in Japan in the 1930s prior to World War II. Marked "Made in Japan" in black. Set consists of a tea pot teapot, lidded sugar, creamer, 6 sandwich plates, 4 cups and 3 saucers. Pot is 5 ¾" tall, 8 ¼" wide. Plates are 7 ½" diameter, lidded sugar is 5" tall and 6" wide, and creamer is 3 ½" tall and 4 ½" wide. These have an exquisite colorful tropical bird and are irridescent (called opalescent by some when describing china). Nice tan color with upper rim in a steely blue. T is some wear to the paint, but it is fairly minimal. A very few paint smears from the factory since they are hand painted. No chips or cracks or repairs. Please ignore camera glare. I estimate the box will weigh 7 lb., with postage paid by buyer from zip code 29907, plus insurance. That is what I have put in the eBay shipping calculator software. So, only use the calculator as ballpark guidance. I will box and weigh as soon as it sells. Will post weight before auction end if it sells before any final bidding. Please WAIT for my invoice at end of auction. ALSO, the ebay calculator can be a weird and wiley thing - and is often FLAT WRONG (on the high side).
