This auction offers you the opportunity to bid on an absolutely spectacular tiger oak sideboard buffet server from the early 1900's Arts & Crafts Mission Era. It was made by the Grand Rapids Furniture com in Michigan and has the old brass tag inside. It is in nearly mint condition. All original and very well taken care of. It is a very large sideboard that weighs over 350 lbs standing 49.5" high and 73" long by 24" in depth fro front to back.. Very thick heavy oak with fabulous graining throughout. It has a high arched back splash with thick tiger oak grain and a beautiful tiger stripe table top over 2 cabinet door below and four center drawers, all with tight dove tail joinery opening and closing smoothly. The working lock and key is still intact. The drawer fronts and the cabinet door front panels are trimmed with heavily craved oak trim. Normally you will see gesso used for this nut it is all carved oak.It stands on 8 legs that are tapered and are still on the original old caster wheels. The perimeter of the top has a thick veneer around it that has a few chips. Although t may be some veneer on the cabinet door fronts, it looks to be solid oak everyw else. You can see the tiger striping in the grain on the underside of the top inside. It has the prettiest oak grain that I have seen and the original natural finish on it is as smooth as satin. It is an extraordinarily great piece of furniture that has lasted many years. If taken care of by the new owner in the same fashion, it will last for many more years to come. We have several very nice oak pieces selling on our auctions an store fron this week. Be sure to take a look at our store. It will be selling with an opening bid of $5 as do almost all of our auctions, with no reserve price set. Any bid can win!
