Magnificent Antique Italian Reticella, Punto in Aria Lace 108 by 70 inch Tablecloth Full Dozen Matching 22 inch Napkins All Hand done, Embroidered and worked on Irish Linen, 108 inches Exquisite Italian handwork covers every inch of this magnificent Tuscan tablecloth. Two thick bands of drawn thread Reticella ( reticella antico ) lace ~ that sometimes leaves the drawnwork altogether and becomes Punto in Aria ~ and Aemilian art stitches that blossom into fist-sized diamonds accented with curling royal embroidery stitches border the 108 by 70 inch cloth. Between the bands Italian white work embroidered spirals stretch out from minute reticella squares All of this is grounded on cream colored, high quality Irish linen. The matching 12 napkins, each 22 inches square, have one corner worked in a smaller version of the table cloth reticella. This is truly the most magnificent piece of Italian hand worked table linen Iâe(tm)ve seen. It is in used but very fine condition. I cannot find a broken bride. T are no holes, tears or stains. T is a very faint (too faint to capture in a picture) yellow spot the size of a quarter on the linen near one end of the cloth. The work is strong, as is the linen. Approximate age 1900 to 1920. This will arrive in as-found condition, wrapped in acid free tissue. Most will be freshly laundered and pressed ~ no starch. Some that are especially delicate, with original tags or potentially more valuable in unwashed condition will be sold as-found and clearly stated in the description. Those items, since all my linens are stored in the same facility, I cannot guarantee as-found linens are completely smoke or odor free. I will state if that smell, or any other such as mold or mothballs, is obvious. I will also point out any stains, holes or worn spots. Shipping, Payment, Returns, Bidding As to shipping, even though I will pack in fresh tissue and, w appropriate, acid free tissue or bubble wrap, I charge only for the actual shipping. I prefer Priority Mail but, if asked, I will ship anyway that may be less expensive. Foreign bidders , I DO NOT SHIP AS GIFTS as it is illegal and please remember to send telephone number for customs. Returns only if the description is grossly erroneous. If that is the case, and I hope it is not, I will also reimburse shipping. No returns will be made if not reported within three days of delivery and/or if the item has been laundered or interfered with. Bid well and early.
