This is an exquisitely carved shell that came from an estate sale. The Victorian lady is carved within a heart. She has her hair up 2 curls falling on her neck and combs in the front of her hair. She looks like she has a shawl around her neck. T are beautiful open flowers with leaves carved along the top. The fine detailing is magnificent and the pictures do not do justice to the actual shell. The shell and cameo carving is in mint condition. The carving including the flowers and lady is an impressive 3 1/2" long and 4" wide. The shell is about 5 1/2" long x 4 1/4" wide x 3 1/2 deep. A closer look at shell in bright light, shows ITALY and a name itched in the bottom of the shell,can not make out the cursive letters. The style makesit difficult to read.. OOPS!!!! My husband spelled "itched" wrong. It should have said "etched in the bottom of the shell".
