This lovely hand-made pottery vase is by famed Hopi potter Nyla Sahmie Nampeyo. Born in 1954, Ms. Sahmie Nampeyo is the daughter of Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo and the sister to Bonnie Chappella Nampeyo, Finkle Sahmie, Rachel Sahmie, Jean Sahme, Andrew Louis Sahmie and Foster Sahmie. She has been making pottery in the style of her ancestors for over 35 years. Some of her favorite designs are the migration pattern adn double hummingbirds and flowers. This is a wonderful small vase that features the traditional migration pattern all around.. The piece is approximately 2 3/8 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter. The distance around the piece at its widest point is 9 inches. The painting is wonderfully executed. Please see photos. Additional pictures are available upon request.
