The fabulous and noted artistic ability of the old German wood carvers really shows in this magnificent hand carved Musical and Animated Cuckoo clock that was found at a recent estate sale along with several European and American antique clocks. (Please view the pictures below). The clock's unique carved case is an impressive 22" long from top of bird to bottom of pendulum and 11" wide at the widest point. The case was hand carved in the Black Forest region of German depicting a little mountain Chalet with carved Forest Pine floral framing the top, sides and bottom of the front (carved from one piece of wood). At the very top is another separate piece that also shows the Pine forest tree limbs, etc. T is also a fabulous carved Red glass eyed Eagle that is perched at the very top. The lower front sides of the case have two forest Squirrels holding acorns . These two Squirrels will rock back and forth alternately as the Cuckoo birds coo coos. The upper center of the front is w the little door is that the Cuckoo bird comes out of on the half hour and the hour. He wil coo coo once on the half hour and as many times needed on the hour. Just below him is a lovely balcony that t four colorful village dancers . These dancers will rotate and swirl while a lovely sounding little German tune is played in the background.This takes place after the Cuckoo bird is finished . T is also a chime that sounds as the Cuckoo bird is coo cooing. As you can see this beautiful clock does it all (Cuckoo bird coo coos with chime, Squirrels rock back and forth and dancers rotate and swirl as a musical tune plays ) The face of the clock is displayed in the center . The dial is numbered in White Roman numerals and the hands are very decorative in design. The word "Germany" is printed on the dial. The clock is operated by a hand carved pendulum and powered by three metal Pine cone shaped weights that hang from Brass metal chains. The movement is one of the finest of quality made and signed by the German clock company Hubert Herr Triberg, Germany. The clock , musical box and animated Squirrels all run and work perfect. If you are looking for a very unusual and gorgeous Musical Cuckoo clock, then this is the one for you. The overall condition is also excellent with no cracks , repairs or any other defects that I can see. As can be seen in the pictures, the movement , bellows ,etc inside of the clock are like new in condition. I will keep my price very low for some lucky person and remember this auction is for only 3 days, so place your bids early. Buyer to pay shipping costs. Money order or cashiers check for payment .
