EXQUISITE RED BLOWN GLASS GILT AND ENAMELED CENTERPIECE OF UNKNOWN MANUFACTURE It is a truly rich and beautiful centerpiece in ovoid form on four blown glass feet, which may or may not have been ground or cut. The primary color is a pure bright red with secondary bright yellow underneath and finished with a white glass interior. There are losses to the gilt enamel, particularly about the rim. Stylistically, the piece is organic in design with "vine" glass handles that extend their tendrils onto the surface of the sides and blossom with blackberry enamel fruits and lovely gilt leaves. There are various insects painted onto the surface, as well. The pontil for this piece has been ground and there is no mark present to indicate the maker, aside from an etched "1403" on the lip of the ground section. Glass experts who care to provide me with insights are welcome. If it is a "rare" piece, then good luck bidding to add this to your collection! Dimensions for the piece: 11 inches in length, 8 inches in height, and 5.75 inches in width. The condition is good overall. Please note the photo taken of the base-- in the lower left section there is a crack that does not break the surface of the piece, so perhaps this was a cooling crack during the blowing process.
