This beautiful rosewood teapoi was made in approx.1830. It was purchased in England. It has a lift top with the interior being divided into 4 sections for different teas. Teas were very expensive and treasured by the English and Early American settlers. They usually had a key in order to keep the tea safe. This teapoi has a key. It is in good condition. T are a few places on the bottom of the stand that are slightly worn and split. As you see the inside lid has some wearing and the top has some small water spots but the piece has held its integrity well for over 175+ years. It was appraised in 1980 for $1,500.00. I have the appraisal papers. It has been in my mother's estate for many years. I am sure the future owner will enjoy it as much as she has. It is a sweet and historical way to serve tea or to just enjoy its beauty. Thank you for looking and good luck on your bidding!
